It places especially well in two metrics: its low rate of violent crime, for which it comes in second overall with approximately 70 incidents per 100,000 residents, and its top-five rate for temperature, with an average temperature of approximately 60.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Orem, Utah leads our top 10 for the second year in a row. Six of our top 10 cities are in Midwestern states, with low violent and property crime rates, temperate weather, and high youth populations.

Joliet, Illinois moved down from ninth last year to 11 th this year. Appleton, Wisconsin, which ranked 18 th last year, made it to 9 th place this year.
